Meet Nate: I Can...

This week on the blog, we are celebrating and learning about the lives of people with Down syndrome for Down syndrome Awareness Month. Today, our guest writer is Cassandra as she shares about her son, Nate.

Meet Nate

This is Nate, and he can do many things!!!

Nate is 14 years old and a freshman in high school. Some of his favorite things to do are: go to the gym to work on his pull ups, singing, bowling, seeing the horses with our friend, laser tag, and mini golf.

However, the thing that Nate does the best is love people. He has never met a stranger, and often has hugs for the new friends he meets! He is a teacher of how to love. He sees no difference in any human, and freely welcomes all just as they are-the most important trait of God's love that we as "normal" people so frequently fail at. As his mom, I am repeatedly shocked by how quickly people accept him and his hugs! I have yet to see anyone offended, repulsed, or anything less than happy about his hugs! I truly believe he and his spirit of love are a gift from God.

Thanks for sharing, Cassandra. I hope I never meet Nate in a pull up contest!-Evana

This post is for Down syndrome Awareness Month where bloggers write for all 31 days of October for Trisomy 21. I am part of this 31 for 21 challenge. During the month of October, the NDSS asks that we celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of abilities and accomplishments. Individuals with Down syndrome have abilities that need to be celebrated!
